BRIDGE RECONSTRUCTION AT KM 80.930 OF THE HOHENAU (ÖBB) - PŘEROV, BŘECLAV - POŠTORNÁ

Investor/Contracting Authority: The Czech Railway Administration, Construction Administration East

Project description:
The bridge is located in the Poštorná cadastral area, district of Břeclav on the Hohenau - Přerov railway line, on the inter-station section of the line. The structure bridges the relief branch of the Dyje river and serves for the traffic of the 2nd transit railway corridor, which is part of the “North-South railway”.

The subject of the reconstruction was the removal of the technically unsuitable bridge at Km 80.930 of the railway line and meeting the requirements for the speed of 160 km/h. The three original consecutive structures were replaced by a single bridge according to the requirement of the Morava Basin Administration.

The supporting structure of the bridge is make of steel and has an orthotropic deck, which forms a gutter for the railway bed. The main beam act as a “net arch”, where the main beam is reinforced with a non-rigid arch and the space between the arch and the beam is filled by a system of tie rods in a net arrangement. The bridge bearings are inclined, with a 8.07 m offset of the main beams. The theoretical span of the main beams is 97.50 m. Each track is located on a single-track bridge - therefore, the bridge actually consists of two single-track load-bearing structures.
