Project description:
This project involved the construction of a new space on the roof of the new underground garages in front of the Janáček Theater in Brno. The project consisted of the following structures:
Sewage system – This system serves for the partial drainage of rainwater into a newly built accumulation shaft with a capacity of 15.0 m3 and a seepage retention tank with a capacity of 33.0 m3. The drainage is made of PP piping with a total length of 103.6 m.
Restoration of the monument to L. Janáček and bunting –The cnstruction work on the monument consisted of granite cladding with a total area of 180.05 m2, incl. bunting. The bunting is made of a new reinforced-concrete base, in which six 16 m fiberglass poles are anchored.
Staircase – The staircase at the monument to L. Janáček was newly lined with original granite steps in the length of 277.15 m. The staircase at Rooseveltova Street was made of a new reinforced-concrete structure and lined with new granite steps 300.63 m long.
Water features - The project also involved the construction of two water features, a technical room on the 1st underground floor of the garages and the connection to the original water supply and sewage system. The first water feature is a fountain with 10 foamed water jets. The second water feature is a flash wall. The flash wall functions through a program-controlled dripping of water from the metal gate into the pool, where predefined shapes are displayed on the water “screen”. The flash wall is lined with stainless steel.
Landscaping and irrigation system -The works included the planting of a new grass carpet with an area of 1 800 m2 as well as planting of trees and shrubs. The irrigation system provides permanent irrigation for the lawns, trees and shrubs.
Landscaping and paved areas – Lightweight concrete in the volume of 835 m3 and concrete screed in the volume of 345 m3 were made on the original flat roof. The total area was divided into a paved area paved with concrete paving with an area of 3 247 m2, granite paving with an area of 346 m2 and a grass-carpet area. The separation of the paved and grassy areas is made of prefabricated reinforced concrete sections made of white exposed concrete. A pool for the fountain with PVC waterproofing and concrete paving was also installed. The pool for the flash wall is made of a reinforced-concrete structure, and the original attics around the perimeter of the building are lined with granite paving and cladding with an area of 469 m2. The paved areas are drained by a slit gutter with a length of 252 m. The newly built park is connected to the original sidewalks by newly built sidewalks made of asphalt concrete with an area of 410 m2.
Public and festive lighting – A new public lighting was built from 18 poles, 1 reflector and 9 recessed luminaires.
